The incident happened on Thursday, Sept. 21 around 1:40 a.m., when Yorktown Police responded to a crash on Route 118 in the area of Birdsall Drive, according to the department.

Arriving officers soon found the crashed vehicle and identified the driver as Cortlandt Manor resident Anthony Olivieri, age 55.

Police then determined that Olivieri had allegedly been intoxicated at the time of the crash, causing him to hit an earth embankment before flipping and striking a utility pole, according to authorities.

Olivieri was taken to Westchester Medical Center for an evaluation following the crash. He was later charged with his first offense of driving while intoxicated and released on his own recognizance to hospital staff, police said.

He will appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
